(Intermediate) Pottery Wheel Throwing: Refine your technique

This is a course for you who have a good understanding of basic centering, and have enough “randomly shaped” cups and bowls in your cabinets. You feel like you need a helping hand with the last bit to reach the next level.

The set of classes takes place over 3 times.
Select a date in the calendar. Classes take place on this day + same weekday and time the following 2 weeks. Each time is 3.5 hours.

This 3-day course is designed for intermediate throwers who want to refine their wheel throwing skills and improve specific aspects of their technique. Perhaps you want to become more consistent when pulling walls, be more intentional with your shaping, or fine-tune your overall throwing practice.

Rather than have our focus on making a ton of pieces, we'll instead work on understanding the process, identifying common challenges, and building more consistent results through practice and feedback.

Day 1

• Wedging and clay preparation

• Centering with precision

• Improving your cylinder / Refining pulling techniques

Day 2

• Shaping with intention

• Troubleshooting common throwing issues

• Individual feedback and technique adjustments

Day 3

• Trimming for clean, balanced forms

• Finishing details

• We will conclude the day with an introduction to glaze selection.

This course is perfect for potters who already know the basics and want to gain more confidence, control, and consistency at the wheel.
