(Intermediate) Wheel Throwing: How to throw big(ger)

This is a class for you who feel confident in centering and have enough cups and small bowls in your cabinets. You feel ready to throw bigger pieces with intent.

The class is a set of 3 days.

This set of 3 classes will focus on learning experienced techniques to be successful when throwing bigger pieces. It can be taller vases or wider bowls. Or tall and wide vasowls.

The class will begin with exploring cylinders to better analyse where and when the issues arise to better help you avoid them happening in the first place. We will be cutting a lot of pieces through, so do your best to focus on the process and advancing your skills rather than producing more stuff.

The structure of the classes is:

Day 1)

• Wedging properly to make your clay ready for getting bigger
• Centering and how it changes when working with more clay
• Throwing (with a focus on the cylinder)
• (We won't save any pieces from this day)

Day 2)

• Throwing (bigger) bowls and vases (with intent)

Day 3)

• Trimming
• Pulling handles - like the pros do it
• Combining pieces and how to do it to make sure they stay combined
• Decorating with tools and engobe (colors)
