(Summer Masterclass) Week 32: Wheel Throwing - 2 Daytime Classes

2 intensive days of functional and shapeful wheel throwing This set of 2 masterclasses by Cille Grossel with their Master's Degree in Ceramic Design, is for you who already have some experience with wheel throwing and want to refine their technique, delve deeper into form, and work purposefully with functional ceramics. The class is a set of 2 days. \ Pick a date in the calendar. The classes will be on this day + the following day at the same time. Each class is 4 hours. We will work on throwing bowls, cups, and pitchers – with a focus on shapes and form language, proportions, and functionality. The course emphasizes creating well-thought-out utilitarian objects, where technique and aesthetics go hand in hand. \ We will skip the treacherous teapot – but we will approach that level of complexity through pitchers and lids, if you wish. The structure of the classes is: Day 1) Wheel throwing of shapes of varied complexity. Day 2) Trimming and retouching our shapes. Learning to make add-ons such as handles, spouts, lids - for the adventurous students. Hand modelling in combination with our shapes. Decorating - carving and coloring Choose glazes - The Let's Clay team will glaze your pieces for you. Best suitable for ages 16+

(Summer School) 1-3 July: Wheel Throwing - 3 Daytime Classes

This set of 3 classes will teach you the dirty part of the process of wheel throwing and trimming/decorating your very own ceramics. You will be introduced and helped through every step of the basics of the craft, and in the end take home around 6 of your own handcrafted ceramic pieces. The class is from 10.00-13.30 on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The structure of the classes is day 1) throwing, 2) throwing and 3) trimming and decorating. The Let's Clay team will glaze your pieces for you in the colors of your choosing. If you have tried wheel throwing before, this class is also suitable to perfect and advance your skills. Best suitable for ages 14+

Let's Make... a Mug

The talented Let's Clay team will have hand thrown a selection of cups and mugs in different sizes and shapes for you to pick from. The cups are kept soft enough for you to be able to let your creativity flow however you want, by adding your own perfectly fitting handle or a dragon to keep your tea hot and maybe carve a pattern, name or sweet message into the surface of the clay. Whatever you can imagine really! We have recently developed a rainbow of lovely colors you can use to paint you Mug, if you like! These are a lot of options, and we advise you to plan your masterpiece in advance, to make sure you have enough time to complete it, and won't need to stress through the process. The workshop is first and foremost to enjoy and have fun! Finally pick your favorite glaze from our glaze selection (if you haven't done any coloring yourself), and we will take care of the colorglazing and the firing of your masterpiece. Your new favorite cup or mug will be finished within 4-6 weeks. This is not a wheel throwing or painting class class. *The price is for these available hours only. The regular price outside of these hours is 349 DKK, and can be booked by a minimum of 10 attendees by getting in touch.

Moon Jar Throwing Class - 5 Evening Classes

Join us for a unique journey into Korean pottery with Brooklyn-based ceramicist Itai Lavie, who trained under master potters in Korea and has taught Moon Jar workshops internationally. Over five sessions, you'll learn the traditional techniques behind the Moon Jar—a large, round vessel known for its balance, softness, and subtle beauty. The class has 5 sessions on: \ 9 (Wed), 10 (Thurs), 15 (Tues), 16 (Wed) and 17 (Thurs). \ Every class is 3½ hours each. You’ll explore: Spiral wedging and tall cylinder throwing Throwing large bowl forms (up to 6 kg) Joining two forms to create the elusive Moon Jar Decorating your pieces (carving and colors) Let's Clay will glaze and fire your pieces in a smooth transparent glaze. This class is for students with some experience on the wheel. You’ll get hands-on guidance each step of the way, with time between sessions to rest, reflect, and continue practicing.

Open Studio (for former Let's Clay students only)

When we have nothing else planned, we open our studio for former students to practice their newly learned skills on their own. It's straightforward - you book one of our turntables for one time at a time for a fixed price, and pay only a little extra if you want to make bigger things or get your stuff burnt. You'll need to both twist and trim, and you'll have full access to our studio, tools, everything - except glazes, as we'll glaze your works for you, in the colours you choose from our glazes library. There will be no classes during Open Studio, but one of us will be there to answer any questions and help you find what you need. \ *\ *Open Studio is for former Let's Clay students only. \ *\ *

Wheel Throwing - 1-day Class

This class will introduce you to the skill of wheel throwing. You will get a fun hands-on experience of what all the fuzz is about, and also walk home with about 4 of your own handcrafted pieces. It's also a superfun activity for friends, family or groups! As the class is only one day, the Let's Clay Team will finish, fire and glaze your pieces for you, in the colored glazes of your choice from our wonderful glaze library. When everything has cooled from the kiln and has been sanded and packed, you can stop by 6 weeks later to pick everything up. Best suited for ages 15+.

This set of 4 classes will teach you the full process of wheel throwing, trimming and glazing ceramics.
