We are so excited for this one. We are combining two of the oldest Asian traditional crafts; ceramics and calligraphy.
Here you will have the opportunity to sculpt your very own, completely unique tea cup ("yunomi") and learn how to use "kanji" (Chinese/Japanese writing) to imbue it with powers with calligraphy painting.
We have invited Ayaka, a Japanese calligraphy artist, to introduce you to kanji and show you the craft of calligraphy, and one of our own ceramicists, Touko, will be taking you through the important steps of turning your calligraphy into tea cups.
The cups will be made using slab building, and will not involve the pottery wheel. Different colors for writing will be available.
The workshop will be conducted in English.
Although it is a very special occasion, you don't have to put on your Sunday Best and blue suede shoes, but clothes that can go in the washing machines are absolutely perfect. The clay you might get on you will come right off.
All the tea and water you can possibly drink is included in your class price. Also coffee, but maybe tea suits the occasion better? :)
All the clay and colors you need to make your 1 masterpiece is included in your class price. 1 cup per booking.
(More pieces can be added for +150kr per piece, if we have time)
